Burns Ice

The hottest coolest duo to ever climb out of the mean streets of Maui. Two voices. One wind machine. Zero chill.

The Legend

Forged on the mean streets of Maui

It was the summer of 1996. Paradise was dangerous. The shave ice line in Kahului stretched for nearly six people, and the trade winds showed no mercy to anyone's hair gel.

Blaze Kahale was a bald, bearded shave-ice vendor with a sunburn on his scalp so severe it could be seen from Molokai. Crystal Frost was a mainland transplant with three feet of straight platinum hair and a karaoke trophy she refused to put down. One fateful afternoon they reached for the last blue-raspberry syrup at the same time. Their hands touched. A boombox fell off a pickup truck. A chicken watched. Burns Like Ice was born.

They cut their first demo in a laundromat, sold cassettes out of the back of a rusty pickup, and survived a brutal circuit of luaus, swap meets and one very confusing bar mitzvah. By 1999 they had matching denim, a manager named Chad, and the #1 video on afternoon music TV for eleven straight weeks.
